I just fixed a vacuum. Me, the girl from Orange County, that didn't know the difference between a Philips and a Flathead screw driver a couple years ago, just fixed a vacuum.
Our new house has a central vacuum system. It is awesome. It looks awesome a least, because the vacuum doesn't work. The brush didn't spin.
So I went and bought a new belt today, that part was Jeff's doing, I had no idea that was what was wrong with it (let's be honest, I can fix, but I cannot diagnose).
The vacuum was already taken apart (thanks Jeff), and I put the belt on, used the screwdriver (the Philips) to put the cover back on, plugged in the vacuum, and marveled at my awesomeness.
The best part? The vacuum worked. The worst part? I had to vacuum the house.
Now I am off to make dinner because this domestic diva's work is never done.
A blog started to honor my son Brendan who lived 97 days on this earth. His life taught me to enjoy every moment.

My evening
This is what I did last night:
I made dinner
And waited while Jeff built the remaining chairs for the dining room table
I waited while he fixed the toilet seat (while looking handsome with no shirt on)
This is what my plate looked like by the time Jeff was done. I picked at it for 20 minutes waiting for him to finish. I really tried waiting, but asking a pregnant lady to wait to eat the food in front of her is like asking a kid to wait to open presents at Christmas. It wasn't going to happen.
That was my evening. Not too shabby if you ask me. I wonder what I can ask him to build for me tonight.

A moment of silence, please
Guess what I just did. Guess. I dare you.
Well, you aren't going to guess, so I am going to tell you.
The following 2 pictures are taken from one spot in my house.
Well, you aren't going to guess, so I am going to tell you.
The following 2 pictures are taken from one spot in my house.
This is a picture of my car
This is a picture of my kitchen
Today at approximately 4:15 pm, I took my groceries from my car, walked about 8 feet, and put them in the kitchen.
I know! Shocking!
Let me back up and tell you why this is a big deal.
For the last two years, I have had to walk from a detached car port, across a parking lot, down a hallway, and up 2 flights of stairs with groceries in my hands. For one and a half of those years, I was also pregnant, trying to lug milk, oj, and other pregnancy necessities like chocolate ice cream, 4 miles, uphill.
Today, I experienced something amazing. I walked in the house, set the groceries down, and I wasn't sweating, I wasn't out of breath, and my ice cream wasn't melted.
I had to have a moment of silence. It truly was an amazing experience.
Okay, one more thing before I go. Check out my amazing table that Jeff bought me and put together last night. Believe it or not, it is a Wal-Mart special. I am proud to say it. I am not ashamed. My new table is awesome. Jeff is going to put together the chairs tonight for me. They are also awesome.

33 weeks
Wow, 33 weeks along.
This is both a good thing and a bad thing.
Good thing because it means that my second little man will arrive and I will get to hold him and kiss him and squeeze him...sorry, my inner Lenny was coming out. Moving on.
I also get to be a mom. Now, don't get me wrong, I am a mom, I was a great mom to Brendan while he was on earth, but I didn't get the whole experience because he was in the hospital for so long. This time I get to experience the no sleep, crying, feeding, changing diapers all night that comes with having a newborn at home.
This is a bad thing because at the current time, there is no place for him to sleep. There is barely a place for me to sleep.
So help me if this child comes early I am going to have a panic attack. Well, I am sure that the panic attack will be overshadowed by the contractions and the whole, you know, labor thing, but still. Panic will be present.
The baby has a room, but it is not a pretty sight. The only way you can tell it is a baby's room is because of the crib in the corner. Otherwise it looks like a disaster area. Although I am not going to let him out of my sight for the first 18 years of his life, therefore he is going to sleep in our room. However, our room is not a pretty sight either. The good thing is that the room is huge. I mean HUGE. I honestly think that my current bedroom is the size of the entire apartment we had in California.
Speaking of which, when I called to get utilities set up for the new house, they pulled up records that stated the square footage of our house. In Irvine, we lived in a 2 bedroom apartment that was about 900 square feet. The woman on the phone told me that our garage was 850 square feet alone. I could live in the garage. Seriously. Not that I would want to. There is no air conditioning out there, and there are bugs, lots of bugs....
Okay, I digress. What the heck was I talking about?
Oh yes, our bedroom. It is huge and therefore the mess is not as noticeable because it is spread out.
So I guess what I am saying is that if this baby comes early, he is going to have to sleep in a wardrobe box next to my bed. (Don't worry, I will leave it open for ventilation).
So, baby, please wait for at least another 5 weeks, because by then the house will be perfect (ha!) did I say perfect? I meant decent. The house will be decent, you will be old enough to not require a stay in the NICU, and mommy can enjoy her 2 weeks on the couch, in front of the tv, with a dr pepper in one hand, and you in my arms.
Because you know that you aren't leaving these arms until you turn 18. I mean it.

Alarming evening
So, Jeff and I are settled. Well, I use that term loosely. Settled would imply that things around the house are in order, and I can guarantee you that they are not in any order. There are boxes everywhere, and I guess the good thing is that most of them are in the right area of the house. I did find a garage box upstairs in the farthest corner bedroom- and it was the only thing in that room. Random.
Anyways, Jeff arrived safely, as did our stuff. Although some things were not without damage. This would be a big deal for most people, but if you are like Jeff and I, most things you own are hand me downs, or Wal-Mart and Target purchases. We also get to file a claim with the moving company and have them replace the things that are broken. Wal-Mart here I come!
Well, tonight Jeff and I had an interesting evening. We have an alarm system in the house, but it is not set up. The display is on and it serves as a good night light to prevent me from running into the wall on the way to the restroom. (Stay tuned for more on the various bruises I have on my body caused by late night bathroom trips.)
Anyways, the wall unit was beeping obnoxiously this morning at 6 am letting us know that the battery was low. Like I care, I don't even want the alarm system. So I hit cancel and went back to bed. This only works for a few hours, then it beeps again, and again, and again, you get the idea.
So Jeff and I went out to get batteries today. We came home to replace the batteries in the wall unit and for the life of us, couldn't get the cover off.
During this process, my husband was pressing random buttons to try and....well I am not sure why, but in the process, he hit the ON button. This turned the unit on. No a problem, until your husband tries to go outside to the garage.
OH DEAR LORD, this is the loudest alarm I have ever heard.
Jeff looked and the wall unit and it read "Please enter code". Yeah, we have no code. We bought the house from the bank. They don't care about the code. Jeff called Brinks and they said that they have no record of this address being registered with them.
Well that's great, thanks for your help.
Jeff decided to take matters into his own hands and went to the closet where the alarm box was to try to disconnect the power to the unit. After what seemed like an hour, it was disconnected... and quiet.
In the meantime I was standing outside trying to get the code from our realtor over the phone and although I was standing in the street, he could still hear the alarm over the phone.
By the way, he doesn't know the code either.
So that was our night. Rest assured that there is never a dull moment at the Plemons household. Or a quiet one.
On an unrelated note: How is an alarm system effective if you can disconnect it? Just saying.

Story of my life
Well, not really, but still.
I am currently in Chattanooga, TN staying with my in laws because although I have a house, I have nothing in it but a few (ahem, okay you caught me) several dust bunnies and cobwebs. This is about 2 hours- maybe a little less- from Knoxville.
Tomorrow the movers are delivering our stuff. I am very excited. They said they would arrive around 9:30. This is wonderful news because it means that I don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to drive up there!
Then I got a phone call from Sears. They are delivering my washer (my very own washer!) and dryer (my very own that will dry my clothes that I will ignore for days on end and then have to re dry because they are wrinkled!) and my fridge (the one I am going to visit at midnight naked to get snacks for the baby-okay, really just me, but the baby likes chocolate too!). They are delivering all these wonderful things between 7:30 and 9:30 am. There goes my sleeping in.
I am going to have to wake up at 4:45 to leave the house at 5:00 so I can get breakfast on the road and be at the house before they get there. Because you know that if I am late, the will have already shown up and left, but if I am there early, they will come no earlier than 9:29.
Therefore I am going to pack up all my things (including the computer) tonight and load the car, and shower and get ready so I can wake up and go to meet the Sears delivery guy who will show up late. Stupid Sears.
I will let you know how it goes. Because I know that you are all waiting to hear what time they Sears guy will come. My life is that interesting. I know.
I will not have a computer until Saturday afternoon sometime because the cable guy is coming to the house between 8 and 12 and you know what that means? He will be there by 2, and I will be starving, cranky, tired, and without internet, and without an avenue to vent my frustrations online.
Stupid Comcast.

Living out of a suitcase
I got to be honest, it's not my favorite. I have officially lived out of a suitcase for 24 days, 21 of those days I was homeless.
The truck comes tomorrow morning with all our things, the washer and dryer and fridge come tomorrow as well. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I just want to swim in all of my dishes, okay that would hurt, but you get the idea.
I can't wait to sleep in my own bed, with my own husband. For the record, I was not sleeping with anyone else's husband.
I can't wait to eat food out of my own fridge, wash my clothes in my own washer and I can't wait to avoid folding and putting away clothes out of my own dryer.
I can't wait to shower in my shower. I can't wait to take a bath in my own jacuzzi tub.
I have been living with my in laws for about 11 days now, so I can't wait to walk around the house naked. Totally naked.
So, in summation, as of tomorrow, I will have my things, and my house, I will be in the bath tub, and walking around the house eating food out of my fridge, rolling around the kitchen in my own dishes, totally naked.
A word of advice: If you visit over the weekend, Knock first.
